The Department of Slavic Languages at the 2026 Summer School

How can university teaching become more engaging and inspiring in the digital age? How can artificial intelligence be used as a meaningful tool for teachers and students? And what new approaches can bring fresh ideas into the university classroom?

These were among the questions explored at the 2026 Summer School of Higher Education Pedagogy, held from 17 to 20 August in Pec pod Sněžkou. Three members of the Department of Slavic Languages took part in the event, jointly organised by Paedagogium at Charles University and Prague University of Economics and Business.

Over the course of four days, university teachers from different institutions shared their experiences, explored new approaches, and discussed real-life challenges from higher education. One of the key themes was the use of artificial intelligence in teaching, alongside innovative teaching methods and experiential learning.

For our department representatives, the Summer School was an opportunity not only to discover new tools and approaches, but also to share their own experience of teaching foreign languages at university level.

Yet the Summer School was about more than lectures and discussions. The inspiring setting of the Krkonoše Mountains, informal conversations, and encounters with colleagues from other universities created space for new ideas and professional connections.
